Most treasure hunts or scavenger hunts are developed around a specific theme such as pirates, a mystery, or a holiday. These may not always work for what you have in mind. That is where this hunt comes in! This hunt can be customized by you to work for any theme or no theme at all other than having fun! Ten fun clues…each a different type of puzzle, can be customized by you as you add the clue location and level of difficulty. You even get tips on how to customize it further by weaving in a theme of your preference. You can be as creative as you want, using this hunt as the basic building block. Great for team building, birthday parties, holiday gatherings or any time you want to have fun!

Plan a Scavenger Hunt Premise

Participants hunt for locations around the event area to find and solve clues. Each clue solution is the location of the next clue. The first team to solve all clues and find the final location wins. Each clue location is customized by you so this hunt can be hosted absolutely anywhere.

Sample Plan a Scavenger Hunt Clue

Using the hunt directions document, the hunt organizer marks a ruler with letters of the alphabet. Teams receive a clue with lines drawn at different lengths on the paper. By using the ruler and the following clue, teams are able to decipher the solution.

The entire alphabet is in just one foot.
Let the ruler guide you to take a look.
You may have to unscramble what you find.
The solution will come to light, when combined.

What makes this hunt ideal for teens and adults?

The clues are:

• Clever – Clues are designed with teens and adults in mind. So, it is challenging, but not too hard. It will appeal to the little kid inside all of us, but it is not childish.
• Challenging - This is not a “go to a location and take a picture” type of a hunt. Once the location is found, teams need to work together to solve a puzzle type clue to determine the next location. Clues have riddles that help participants figure out how to solve the puzzles.
• Customized - You have control over how the hunt is delivered to the participants. The unique way the puzzles are designed allows you to write in where you want to hide clues. So, you can host this hunt virtually anywhere – at home, at work, outside or indoors. The hunt is also designed so if you don’t like any one particular clue you can skip it. You can tweak the hunt to suit your needs, so you can personalize this experience.

*The hunt does not include all of the supplies you will need to deliver some of the clues. For instance, two of the clues suggest that you use fun props to help teams solve the clues. However, both clues could also be prepared by simply printing something from the internet or a sheet in your downloaded documents.

Length of Hunt

Our hunts are designed to be very flexible in the amount of time it takes to run the hunt. You can customize this hunt based on where and how well you hide the clues. You can also shorten the hunt by eliminating some of the clues. Typical hunts last between 30 minutes to one hour.

Preparing for Your Hunt

Give yourself plenty of time to plan your hunt. Although we have tried to make this an easy process for you, the very nature of planning a custom hunt in your specific location will take some preparation. Read through your Directions document as soon as possible. This will explain anything that you need to purchase or prepare prior to your hunt. Most hunts will require you to plan out where you want to hide your clues. Some hunts, such as the Pirate Hunt, Teen Treasure Hunt, Haunted Hunt and the Make it Your Own Customizable Hunt require you to purchase/gather items and set up clue stations. These hunts could take up to 4 hours to plan depending on your location and experience in this type of activity.

How the Plan a Scavenger Hunt Package is Delivered

If you choose the download, in the order confirmation page and confirmation email there will be a link where you can click to download your purchased product. Otherwise, you can revisit www.mastersofthehunt.com and click on the "Login" link at the top of the site - then go to "My Account." When you log on, the hunt can be retrieved from "My Downloads."

Please note, downloads are available from the moment your order is complete and remain available within 30 days of placing your order. The download comes as Microsoft Word and PDF documents. Most computers come with a free Adobe Acrobat Reader, but if yours does not, you can download it for free at www.adobe.com under Products & Services.

Alternatively, you can choose to have the hunt mailed to you on CD. Please note this requires you to send us a list of your personalized clue locations and incurs an additional $10 processing, shipping, and handling fee.
